They've really built up this story and I'd love to see it be finished. Apart from it being non-canon (apparently), the ending was a cop out. Even if we have to wait another 5-6 years, I really hope we see one last entry to the series where Mental is finally defeated once and for all. Game series that just DON'T finish the story is one of my pet peeves. I really wanna see the series reach a conclusion and not just have it left open-ended. Serious Sam 5 could easily lead on from The Second Encounter and tie into the first cutscene of Serious Sam 4's final level. Quite frankly, we're in a position now after the way Serious Sam 4 ends where we just need ONE more game to wrap up Sam's story for good. May be some fans - at least they fix your games much better than you. Or hire someone else to do new Serious Sam games instead of you. Make new Talos games, hell, make something completely original, a brand new franchise! Just leave Sam alone. So why not just abandon the series? Let it DIE peacefully in grace, rather than trying to fix it and recapture that old magic again with weird results. They did it for 20 years, so it's expected to happen. It's clear to me that Croteam members are old, sick and tired of Serious Sam. The Talos Principle, on the other hand, was once again something refreshing and great. It seems they desperately try different things and approaches with the series, but can't capture that magic of the first games. I would say, everything started going downhill somewhere around Serious Sam 2. But, let's face it - Croteam lost their touch when it comes to new Serious Sam games. You did a lot of great stuff over the last two decades, awesome games. In 2015 they founded an internal division named Croteam Incubator which produces and develops small-sized games.Ĭompany was formed by 4 guys in Croatia.I don't know if Croteam will read this to begin with, but I feel the need to share my opinion with people.ĭear Croteam, thank you for amazing 20+ years of gaming. Devolver Digital started a humorous advertisement campaign to promote their releases. In late 2009 and early 2010, HD remakes of The First Encounter and The Second Encounter were released via Steam, running on the superior Serious Engine 3, with updated models, textures, and 16-player co-op. Two years later development officially started on Serious Sam 3: BFE. It allowed support for advanced refraction effects, high-resolution textures, high-dynamic range lighting, and light bloom effects. In mid 2003, Croteam started development on Serious Sam II, which used their latest game engine at the time: Serious Engine 2. Serious Sam and the Serious Engine are two products that helped Croteam in establishing a strong presence in worldwide markets and creating different relationships with developers and publishers alike. In 2001 Croteam finished two products: Serious Sam (a first-person shooter) and the Serious Engine (3D Engine powering Serious Sam with powerful Serious Tools: the Serious Editor and Serious Modeler). In 1995 Croteam started to develop exclusively for the PC platform. With the release of Football Glory, Croteam made a strong presence in the European market (mainly UK and Germany). From then on it has been continually involved in game development.īetween 19 Croteam developed three games for different game platforms: Football Glory (PC, Amiga), 5-A-Side Soccer (Amiga) and Save the Earth (Amiga 4000). It was initially started as a "garage game development" in 1993 in Croatia. Croteam is either a label or daughter of ABEST d.o.o.
